Stool samples from across Asia reveal that antimicrobial resistance genes, especially those targeting macrolides and tetracyclines, are extremely common and often found in all individuals tested. These resistance genes travel easily between bacteria, raising alarm for multidrug-resistant infections and highlighting the urgent need for global surveillance and better antibiotic use.
