Founded way back in 1911, in Michigan, under the name of Upton Machine Corporation, this company has sailed over the years to attain the impressive position, it is in, currently. The flagship product was an electric motor driven wringer washer. 1929 saw the merger of Upton Machine Corporation with Nineteen Hundred Washer Company. It was after 20 years later in 1950, when the company acquired the name Whirlpool Corporation. Later in 1989, Whirlpool merged with Philips to form the European Joint venture.
